An important enemy of God is control. God has called us to complete freedom in Christ, in every aspect of our lives. Jesus said:
‘So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.’ (John 8:36)
And the apostel Paul wrote:
‘It was for freedom that Christ set us free’ (Gal. 5:1)
‘Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty’ (2 Cor. 3:17)
Freedom to express ourselves in worship to God, without any hindrance. Freedom to examine whether our theology is after God’s heart. Freedom to find a healthy way to be a fellowship where people become true discipels of Jesus. God wants to give room for his Spirit in every area possible.
Freedom opens the door to discover, taste, go on an adventure with God, get lost and find new ways, push the boundaries people have placed, gain a deeper knowledge of the glory of God and moving up higher in the world of God’s Spirit.
I believe that Jesus Christ is about to bring a more intense measure of freedom in his people. A way of living, fellowshipping, worshipping, reading the Bible, witnessing etc. where we give full control in the hands of Jesus Christ, Who is our King and where we will taught to truly be led by His Spirit.
The battle between control and freedom is basically the question: will you bow before Him or do you want Him to bow before you?
Fear and power controls us. Freedom stimulates us: dive, drink, discover, ask questions, go further, go deeper…. It is an unlimited adventure where our real hold is Jesus Christ. He will become our true foundation where God can build his temple – filled with his glory. Not a human building, but a heavenly Jerusalem in our lives where He can live fully in us.
He leads, educates, forms and builds us as his city. Fear for the unknown will pin us down to the familiar: the opinions, habits, doctrines and institutes of people.
Control will allow talking and singing about Jesus in abundance, but obstructs the true and strong manifestation of Jesus Christ. Religion means ‘ bind again’. How much religion is there in us? How much control? To what measure do we bind ourselves and others instead of living in the freedom of Christ?
God wants to sing through us, God wants to speak through us, God wants to dance through us, God wants to move – in every level – through us. God wants to show himself, in and through his people.
Only freedom will accomplish what is written:
“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.” (Rom. 8:19) Who are the sons of God? “all who are being led by the Spirit of God.” (Rom. 8:14)
Don’t let people, opinions, habits, traditions, critics, fear or power lead you. Let yourself be lead by the Spirit of Jesus Christ and discover the free flow of Gods river in every area of your life.
David Sorensen had a dramatic encounter with God, which completely transformed his life. He decided to spend the rest of his life showing others show real God is and how much he loves us. David's desire is that people would learn how to experience God as the most beautiful reality there is.
