Your true identity

There will come a day when God will reveal to you what your true identity is.

true identity

There will come a day when God will reveal to you what your true identity is.

First He’ll start with your personal life. Then, as you grow in Him and you get rooted in Him – in His solid ground, in His love, in communion with Him – there will come a day the Lord will say to you:

Stand up as a man or a woman of God, stand up in ministry, stand up as who YOU are!

Stand up as who I designed you to be for Me, in My kingdom!

You know, we are a BODY, the body of Christ. The BODY exists of little pieces that are all equally needed. What I believe is that today still a lot of those pieces (which are actually individuals with a unique calling) have not fully come to what God designed and purposed them to be. Because others -leaders and critics- hold them back and decide over them who they should be and what they should or shouldn’t be doing.

The problem is that every human being (and leaders are human beings) is narrow minded in one way or another. This is simply how God created us: we cannot see, feel, think, understand everything. Only God can. That’s why we need to trust Him in what He is doing.

As a leader we should trust God in the fact that He is responsible for raising up His sons and daughters in their true identity, with their unique calling and giftings, as He has intended them to be.

And they will be different than you!

Of course they will be different. We are a BODY! You will be different than your leader is. You MUST be different than your leader is, because you are not him. You are YOU! And it is of uttermost importance that you don’t try to COPY this or that person, but that you discover who YOU really are, what YOUR OWN way of communion with the Lord is and what YOUR OWN expression of the Holy Spirit is.

Only when you step into the freedom to do what God has called YOU to do, will it come forth.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am talking about pure-hearted, grown-up christians who are mature enough to stand on their own feet. I’m not talking about spiritual babies in the Lord. They have to grow up and be taught the basic ways of God and learn to have respect for elders. But it’s not up to elders to decide what sons and daughters of God should be like, how their ministry should look like, what their expression of the Holy Spirit through them should look like.

The ways of God are holiness, purity, not being selfish but learning to sacrificially love and serve, etc. God takes His children through a process to bring them to a certain measure of maturity. But when the day comes, they are to stand up in their true identity in Christ which is unique and different, and we as leaders may not control or hinder them!

I know leaders who preach ‘Stand up in your Identity’ a lot, but when it really comes down to it, they criticize and have BIG opinions and even try to force those opinions upon those they see stand up in the commission God has given them, simply because wat others are doing is different from their own calling.

I believe true freedom is, where everyone can be who they really ARE, when our true identity can be filly revealed.

And we as leaders have to face that it’s going to be different than what we are used to. Because God is still able to do a new thing! How many believe it when God says:

‘Behold, I will do a new thing? Now it shall spring forth, shall you know it?’

Everyone is supposed to be new. Everyone is supposed to be different, look different, sound different, get different results in different areas and target groups. There are so many, I repeat, SO MANY things that haven’t been done yet in the Kingdom of God, that God wants to do! I tell you, the greater things still have to be done.

And it can only begin to happen when and IF sons and daughters of God ARISE in their OWN true identity. In their OWN true calling. In their OWN true ways of serving God. Everybody is so unique and God along with the whole of creation longs to see the revelation of the sons of God! The true revelation of the sons of God that really ARISE in their own God-given Identity.

Which is DIFFERENT than you would expect.

You know, God and his sons and daughters do not have to live up to your ideas and expectations. They are too limited. God is up to do something new and He needs freedom to do so.

By writing this I hope to help release some of the freedom God needs for his children to arise in His works, with their own voices, their own sounds, their own axes and edges. Only when this happens the Body of Christ will become a healthy body with all details in place. Still a long way to go…. 🙂
